A credit bureau creates a record of a consumer’s credit information indicating how the consumer manages his/her credit.
Your credit report contains all the positive, as well as negative information about your payment behavior.
Credit information can be used to:
- To assess whether or not the consumer can afford credit.
- To investigate fraud, corruption or theft.
- To consider the consumer for employment.
- To assess whether or not the consumer can afford various services.
Can information be removed from the bureau after the debt that was listed has been paid in full?:
The CPA Constitution prohibits the removal of data even though the data refers to a debt that has been paid in full. The default information can only be updated to “Paid in full”.
Important:
You may think that you can not do anything about being “blacklisted”. However, there is a way out!
By making payments to the debt the status changes from an inactive to a active account that has a positive effect on the your credit record.
